Manufacturing marketing

What should every manufacturer product page include?

A working checklist for product pages that support specification, not just browsing.

A manufacturer product page has two jobs: help a specifier decide, and make the next step obvious. Most pages do neither because they were built as a catalog dump.

The essentials

  • A product name and model number a specifier can search
  • Images that show variation — finishes, fabrics, angles, and at least one in-context scene
  • Dimensions and specification detail in text, not only in a PDF
  • Materials, finish options, and construction notes
  • Applications: where this product belongs and who it serves
  • Certifications, testing, and compliance detail
  • Lead time and availability signals
  • Downloadable spec sheets and drawings — plus the same content on the page for search
  • A clear next step: request a quote, request a catalog, talk to a rep

What search and AI systems need

If specification detail exists only inside a PDF or an image, it is effectively invisible to search engines and AI assistants. Put the substance in HTML, use structured data, and keep naming consistent across the line.

The test

Can a designer who has never met your company specify this product from the page alone? If not, the missing piece is your highest-value content project.
